As one of the world’s first CIM Certified AI Marketing Specialists, sharing the possibilities of AI and transferring my knowledge to small businesses is a passion of mine.

If you have ever wondered how AI could enhance your marketing strategy, streamline processes, and help you connect with your customers more effectively, this episode is for you. By the end, you will have a clearer understanding of what AI can do for small businesses and how to start integrating it into your marketing.

So, let’s get started!

What is AI Marketing?

Let’s cover this first. AI marketing refers to using artificial intelligence tools and machine learning to automate tasks, personalise customer experiences, and improve marketing efficiency. It is not about replacing human creativity – it is about enhancing what you already do.

Some of the most common AI marketing tools include:

  • Chatbots – Automating customer service and answering common queries
  • AI Copywriting Assistants – Helping with content creation and idea generation
  • Predictive Analytics – Analysing customer data to improve marketing decisions
  • Personalisation Software – Customising emails, website experiences, and ads based on user behaviour

That just about sums it up in a nutshell!

How AI is Transforming Marketing for Small Businesses

For small businesses, AI offers opportunities that were once only available to large corporations with big budgets. It gives you, as a small business owner or someone responsible for marketing within a small business, endless opportunities to boost your marketing success.

It’s your time to shine! I read an interesting statistic recently: 80% of marketers say AI allows them to do more marketing. However, I know that as a small business, this could spark overwhelm.

So, my theory is that small businesses should be using AI to do better marketing, not necessarily more marketing. Coming back to what I was talking about in the last episode, about strategy, imagine the possibilities if AI could assist you with all of that! It truly is game-changing.

AI can:

  • Save time – Automating repetitive tasks like email responses and social media scheduling
  • Increase efficiency – Analysing data quickly to make informed decisions
  • Improve customer experiences – Offering personalised content and recommendations
  • Enhance content creation – Assisting with blog posts, social media captions, and email marketing

Common Myths About AI in Marketing

There are a few misconceptions about AI that stop small business owners from using it effectively. Let’s clear some of them up:

  • “AI is only for big businesses” – Not true! Many AI marketing tools are affordable and accessible.
  • “AI will replace marketers” – AI supports marketing efforts but still needs human input and creativity.
  • “AI is too complicated” – Many AI tools are user-friendly and designed for business owners with no technical background.

Don’t worry, because you’ve got AI Certified Marketing Specialists, like me, here to train you, so that you’ll soon be flying solo!

How You Can Start Using AI in Your Marketing Today

If you are new to AI, start small and build from there. Here are three ways you can begin integrating AI into your marketing:

  1. Use AI-powered email marketing tools – Automate email sequences and personalise messages for better engagement.
  2. Explore AI-driven social media scheduling – Save time by using AI tools to schedule and optimise your posts with you (not for you).
  3. Experiment with AI copywriting assistants – Test AI-generated content ideas and refine them with your brand voice.

It’s important that you get the right training to effectively train your AI. I like to use a dog training analogy. When someone gets a dog, they take it to dog training classes, but it’s actually the owner who learns how to train the dog.

It’s exactly the same with AI. You need to train your AI to understand your business, your tone, and your goals. I’m not just saying this because I’m an AI trainer – I’m saying it because learning how to train AI properly will change the way you work forever.

Wrap-Up

It is all about working smarter, not harder. And more importantly, it’s about doing better marketing, not necessarily more marketing.
