Reframe negative thoughts into something more empowering. Focus on what you can do rather than what you can’t do, no matter how limited the resources may be at the moment.
As a marketing consultant, mentor, and trainer, I’m often telling my clients about the importance of understanding the competition. In terms of developing your small marketing strategy, this is important. However, it’s equally as important to find the balance between research, awareness, understanding whilst keeping a positive mindset.
I’ve lost count of the number of clients I’ve worked with, particularly service providers, who are often intimidated by what competitiors are doing. This includes your competitors, so by all means follow them, be aware, but never let it impact your marketing mindset becuause it may cause you to pull back when you should be pushing forward. Part of what I do is to help clients keep focused and maintain their marketing mindset because it’s vital to marketing and business success. So, stay true to who you are and always be authentic with your marketing communications, especially on social media. It’s important to be ethical in this digital age, so you can balance profit and purpose!
Consistency For Marketing Success
Consistent marketing is key when trying to reach success, no matter how large or small your budget is. Put yourself and your business in other people’s minds by using effective techniques such as email marketing, business networking, social media campaigns, and SEO best practices. Doing this will ensure you reach the widest audience possible and can help to boost your personal brand visibility.
It’s also important to not hold back when it comes to pushing forward with new marketing ideas. Take risks, be creative, and don’t get discouraged if things don’t work out as planned. Instead, take a step back, re-evaluate the situation, and come up with a new marketing strategy that works for you. Make sure that you monitor you marketing to evaluate what’s working and what’s not! There’s nothing wrong with tweaking as you go when you’re running marketing campaigns. In fact, I’d encourage it!
Doing a little bit of marketing is better than doing none at all, so it’s okay to build your marketing activities over time to suit you and your available resources. Some businesses can thrive using a few tried and tested marketing methods. Though, imagine the possibilities if they gradually introduced even more. Other businesses are just getting started and may not have the capacity to focus one hundred percent of their efforts on marketing. That’s okay too! A general rule of thumb is that the better the marketing you do, the greater the rewards. But, let’s face it, unless marketing is a full-time role, it’s unrealistic to put too much pressure on yourself. Even if you understand the power of outsourcing or having an in-house team to increase profits, it may not be possible, right now, so start small and build it up gradually. There’s no such thing as an overnight success!
Embrace Emotional Ups And Downs
Do something every day to get you to where you want to be, and the rest will come. Mindset is massive when it comes to marketing. Moreover, I can assure you that any of the emotions, concerns, and challenges that you’re facing right now, have been felt by other business owners to, including me. As small business owners, we all go through many emotional ups and downs and daily challenges. Most of which can only be fully understood and truly appreciated by other small business owners like us. Sometimes, knowing that other people have gone on to achieve massive success can be very inspiring. So, take motivation from others and learn from their mistakes and successes. Personally, whether it’s clients, friends, associates, or people I’ve not met yet, I love to hear business success stories. Firstly, because it’s inspirational and motivational. Secondly, because there’s a deep sense of knowing that if they can do, so can I! Thirdly, as a business owner, I know the amount of work it takes to succeed in business. Particularly when it comes to mindset! That’s why it’s important to choose wisely what you watch, read, and listen to. Additionally, who you spend your time with. Surround yourself with the right people who lift you up because it will help shift and maintain your mindset massively!
Having Faith In Yourself
Marketing success often takes time but these tips should help you stay motivated and on track in order to reach your goals. Be sure to have faith in yourself and keep pushing forward no matter what obstacles may stand in your way! With the right mindset, attitude, support, strategies, and approach, you can achieve marketing success for your small business. There’s never a ‘one size fits all’ approach to marketing. None of my clients are on the same journey. Therefore, their marketing objectives, marketing messages, and marketing plans are all completely different. Every business is different, as is the style and personality of every business owner. As mentioned, it’s good to learn from the successes of others, but always remember that your business is as unique as you are. Therefore, all your marketing activities must be a suitable for your business. In the words of Robert Allen, “There’s no such thing as failure, only feedback!” So, now is a great time to crack on with your marketing!
